Don't go thinking I'm a dog-lover or anything. I just didn't want to fail. [ Since he still doesn't agree with the CDC's goals, his transfer to Grey team didn't actually bother him very much before. Now that he knows what Grey team entails, though ... ]

Instructor Warriorhead told me that being in Grey means I'll be kept out of the loop on some things. I don't want to be in a situation where I can't help.

You already are in that situation. Warriorhead likes to know about things that tick. Not simply that they do, but how. Why. The precise intervals in which ticking takes places. The spaces in between. He expects no less precision from his team.
