[Bullshit that any of this is even remotely okay. She doesn't quite storm into the medical rover a few minutes after that text is sent, but it's certainly an entrance at least. She makes a bee-line right for Edward and makes an abrupt halt right at his bedside, lips pressed tightly together and eyes bright with tears she refuses to shed.]
[Of course, now that she's here she...really doesn't even know what to say or do. Her hands stay clenched into fists at her side, and with her mask off the anger and worry are clear on her face, along with an imploring silent question: 'what could you have done to deserve this?']
[ Ed isn't surprised to see her, honestly. When the blackglass went quiet, he was sort of already expecting Lan Fan to come trotting over to see him. She did seem to prefer face-to-face conversation to using the blackglass.
He reads the worry in her features, the way the tears seemed to well in her eyes, and unsure of what to do, Ed looks away from her, focusing on the wall at the other side of the rover. He often tries to quell the worry of others by acting unconcerned himself, by biting down any pain that he might have and closing up. He's not aware that it does more harm than good. ]
What's with that face? [ There's a huff. ] I ain't dead or anything, so stop acting like I am.
You easily could have been! [Of course her anger rises quickly to the surface, and her features twist into a grimace.] I do not know what happened, but I cannot believe you made a mistake bad enough to deserve...this!
[She makes a wide, frustrated gesture, not particularly caring right now who might be listening. If his was his state after he had gotten treatment, she can only imagine what he had been put through beforehand.]
[ Ed reacts in an even more closed-off manner, huffing his annoyance and turning his gaze toward a far corner of the wall. ]
What's done is done! It's not like I can change what happened. [ The experience was unpleasant, but Ed puts little stock to it. It's not uncommon for him to come out of near-death experiences emotionally unaffected. This aspect of him is tied to the way he's internalized his guilt, tied to his perception of his own value. However awful he was feeling, Al had it worse off. Ed is so trained into this way of thinking that he often bypasses even the consideration that he might be worth some of the sympathy too. To him, something like being physically-tortured was but a speck in the larger picture. A small hurdle he could cross if he only mustered up enough strength to. ]
I don't even know what it was that I did, specifically.
[She scowls and her fists curl up tighter, the automail creaking ever so faintly from the pressure.]
Is that supposed to make me feel better about this?
[It's so frustrating, having so much anger and nowhere to direct it. Even furious as she is she doesn't dare to turn on one of the instructors; even if it was one of them doing this personally she would be flattened before she even could attempts a chance at revenge. And that fact only makes her angrier and more frustrated, everything feeding back in on itself.]
